Happy First Birthday Charlotte!

Dear Charlotte Rose,

I know I only ever call you that when you’re in trouble, but for today I want to call you by your birth name. Today is your first birthday and I’ve never ever had so many mixed emotions like this before. I’m happy and sad and mad all at the same time. Happy that it’s your very first birthday and so proud that me and your dad didn’t completely ruin you yet. Sad that it’s your first birthday and this time has come and gone so fast. I’m mad because you need to stop growing up, stay a little kid for forever please!

ABC Kids Expo Favorite Finds Round Up!

You guys! Remember that one time I went to the ABC Kids Expo and then never wrote about it?  I’m so way behind on posting! The Expo was back in October of last year?!?!! So many good things came from the Expo! I met a ton of amazing people. This small shop in Georgia named Shop Happy Mango sponsored me to go, I helped them find some new amazing products for their shop and helped talk to some people I’ve been recently working with!

Little Balance Box Review

We received the Little Balance Box about two weeks ago. We were using our what I like to call “Lazy Walker” and it just wasn’t helping Charlotte learn to stand, or walk at all, in fact I felt like it was holding her back more than anything. Charlotte is now letting go of the Little Balance Box and has confidence enough to take a few steps towards us. It has helped her posture and learning to stand up on her own greatly.

Breastfeeding Week – Our Story

In honor of breastfeeding week, I’d like to share our breastfeeding story!
Breastfeeding has got to be one of the hardest and rewarding things I’ve done since becoming a mom. Feeding Charlotte what my body naturally provides her has been so amazing though. At first it was a challenge, I did so well the first few hours after having her and then at night time I gave her a pacifier and then she wouldn’t latch on again it was terrible. Eric was trying to help me compress the colostrum out and it just wasn’t working, lots of tears were shed. I didn’t want Charlotte to starve so I start supplementing and pumping to get my milk to come in faster. Pumping sucks! It’s hard on your nipples and it’s just honestly not natural. Once my milk came in I used a nipple shield for about a week and then one night at like 2am I couldn’t find the shield anywhere and so I just said the hell with it and just went for it without the shield and she latched on, and it was the best feeling ever (so I knew she was latched on right). From that day forward it’s been a breeze. I love watching Charlotte grow and get bigger and stronger just from me feeding her. This whole process also helps me watch what I eat, because what I eat she eats essentially. I’m also really nervous about not eating enough, I sometimes though feel like a garbage disposal. Haha.
I was told to give breastfeeding at least 3 weeks before quitting and I pushed through and made it possible. It made me so happy! So if you’re feeling like giving up just give it three hard weeks before you do! Also create a group of girls that you feel comfortable talking to about breastfeeding. My friends really helped me get through the 3 weeks, and even now I still reach out to them for support sometimes!

I’m not too advanced with breastfeeding but if you have any questions or are looking for some suggestions I can always suggest a few different tips or places to seek help.

PS. Sorry for the not so great photos, Eric just snapped them last night so I could post this this morning! xo

Dock-A-Tot Deluxe Review

Today I will be sharing my review on the Dock-A-Tot Deluxe co-sleeper. I received this product from an Instagram contest I entered in and actually won from one of my favorite Instagram moms, Carmen the modern mom. I had been wanting one my whole pregnancy and had actually added it to my baby list registry. After using it for two and a half months, I love this product and would say this is a must have for parents. We keep it in our Arms Reach co-sleeper next to our bed. It fits perfectly inside and is way more cushioned than the actual Arms Reach matress. It was easy to pack and take on our trip to California recently and it’s super easy to lug it around the house for naps. The co-sleeper is known for helping newborns reach every parents wish of sleeping through the night. Now we keep Charlotte on a pretty tight schedule, since Eric has to be on one for work 6 days a week, but anyways she started sleeping through the night at 5 weeks old. It was amazing, refreshing and did I mention amazing?!?! The cover I was originally gifted with is a super nice cover, it did start to turn yellow where her head is at night and I don’t know if that’s because of normal wear and tare or if it was just starting to fade bad. I decided to purchase the plain pink cover and we’ve only had it about 2 weeks but I love the material it seems like it’s made nicer than the other cover I have. Washing and drying the cover is super easy and breeze for when she has spit up in it or had explosive poop. Overall it’s one of my most favorite gifts I’ve received for her, and when she’s ready for the Grand she will be getting that one too.
